See the simple chart above that was towards the end of the book. According to research on happiness, pursuing a higher purpose leads to the most and longest lasting happiness. So, Tony Hsieh asks an important question… if life is about being happy, then why not aim for high purpose and let passion and pleasure follow?
Instead of doing what most do… which is to achieve pleasure (something I can get to feel happy), then passion (something I care about that makes me happy), and finally higher purpose (something bigger than me that makes me happy).
